Goals and Responsibilities of Zion’s Confirmation Program
There are 3 goals to our confirmation program:
•1. To teach the foundation of our Christian Faith using the infallible Word of God
•2. To teach the foundations of the Lutheran Doctrine using Luther’s Small Catechism
•3. To encourage students to develop their faith, affirm their baptismal promises and understand their assured salvation through Jesus Christ.
How will we do this? Meeting these goals is done through a partnership with the student, the parents, and Zion Lutheran Church.
Beginning in the fifth grade and running through the eighth grade year, students are taught Bible history, Luther’s Small Catechism and other aspects of Christian life. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm and run congruently with the school year.
Fifth Grade & Sixth Grade – Study stories from both the Old & New Testaments.
Seventh Grade – Studies the Ten Commandments and the Apostles’ Creed
Eight Grade -Studies the Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, Lord’s Supper, and the Office of the Keys & Confession.
